When your PC notifies you that updates are available choose custom install. Look for an update that says "Genuine something" and uncheck the box next to it.

No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the WIRELESS SWITCH on your computer is on. To see updated list, click "Refresh network list."
But that's not true as my other laptop right next to it (this one I'm on) connects just fine. Before they both connected at the same time!
Needless to say, the original msg just comes back. Now...what is the WIRELESS SWITCH? I must have disconnected it somehow but I don't know what window or procedure to find it.

]]>I bought a Crossover Cable to connect two PCs directly, but I saw that it isn't completely crossover, pairs 1 and 4 are not crossed at all.
The cable it's like this:
Connection 1 --> Connection 2
white/green stripe --> white/orange stripe
green solid --> orange solid
white/orange stripe --> white/green stripe
blue solid --> blue solid
white/blue stripe --> white/blue stripe
orange solid --> green solid
white/brown stripe --> white/brown stripe
brown solid --> brown solid
So the questions are: Would it work correctly, will I have any problems, could I damage my PCs?
]]>You need to enter the IP address of the computer that has the server on it. 127.0.0.1 is a loopback IP. Are you connected to the internet? Do you know the IP your ISP provided you?
To find your IP address goto http://jttechonline.com/dnschk.php from the PC with the FTP server on it. Then from a remote PC type in the address bar ftp://TheIPAddress. This should access the FTP server. Make sure the server is not blocked by any firewalls.
