Whats the difference between vpn and ethernet dedicated Internet? (Computer & Hardware Questions)

by Support, Tuesday, May 14, 2013, 23:59 (2199 days ago) @ Tray

Basically, there is no valid comparison between the two. A VPN is a virtual tunnel over the internet from point A to B.

Dedicated ethernet is a new type of service phone companies are starting to offer where available. Its a physical ethernet connection between your equipment CPE and the ISP network equipment. Its a straight up ethernet connection - the service provder will install a switch on the premises with a single mode fiber trunk uplink. The service reaches well beyond speeds the cable company can offer with capable speeds up to 10Gbps and you can order an optical connection or copper connection.
